I’m Ali and this is my baby, born in January 2025. We live in Cambridge (Huron Village) and are thrilled to be opening an indie shop in the neighborhood. This is my second time owning a shop, but my first adventure into secondhand clothing.
My first shop was in Somerville (9000things at Bow Market). We made home decor and accessories from upcycled found objects. Reusing perfectly good discarded material has always been really important to me.
Before that I was the manager of the SoWa Markets and liaison to the South End neighborhood. I believe that small business is the backbone of a liveable city and will always support my locally owned shops and restaurants.
Heyo! I’m Kate and this is my son, who was also born in January, 2025!
I’ve lived in and around Cambridge for over 20 years, and within those two decades, I have worked with a lot of parents and children—as both a nanny and toddler teacher, and as a personal assistant. Kids grow fast (like, it’s astounding how quickly they sprout and mature), and a pregnant person’s body changes continuously throughout their pregnancy—what fit over the bump yesterday is snug today, and by tomorrow, your six year-old’s dress is going to be a crop top.
These consistently changing tiny humans, as well as the bodies that grow them, accumulate massive amounts of gently-worn garments that are as adorable as they are practical, and which often have years of life left in them. So, buying pre-loved items for rapidly changing bodies makes sense and it contributes to environmental sustainability, which is important to us and good for everyone—especially our children. (Plus, it’s easy on the “pock-a-book,” as my Great Aunt Helena used to say.)
